Board of Adjustment & Appeals
Monthly Board Meeting Schedule: As-needed | City Hall Council Chambers
The Board consists of five members appointed by the City Council. They hear requests for variances and appeals of the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board holds public hearings on the condition of buildings under the City’s Substandard Structure Ordinance and directs staff in any required actions.
Library & Cultural Arts Board
Monthly Board Meeting Schedule: 3rd Tuesday of every month, 5:30 pm | Library Meeting Room
The Library and Cultural Arts board advises the library staff on operations of the library, Clifton and Nadene Irick Museum, Bloomfield Schoolhouse and any other cultural items under the library's purview.
Main Street Advisory Board
Monthly Board Meeting Schedule: 1st Monday of every month, 6 pm | City Hall Council Chambers
The Main Street Advisory board is responsible for helping to revitalize the Historic Town Square. In association with the Texas Historical Commission and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Pilot Point utilizes the successful and proven four-point approach. These four points include Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization, and Promotions.
- Advocates for the Main Street program and revitalization and preservation of downtown
- Fully participates in Main Street projects and events
- Helps plan projects and events in the downtown
- Is a historic preservation advocate
- Plans long and short term projects for the revitalization of the district
- Recruits volunteers to carry out projects and activities of the work plan
Municipal Development District
Monthly Board Meeting Schedule: 1st Tuesday of every month, 5:30 pm | City Hall Council Chambers
The purpose of the PPMDD is to promote economic development within the City of Pilot Point in order to eliminate unemployment and underemployment, and to promote and encourage employment and the public welfare for and on behalf of the City.
The MDD Board is authorized to expend funds for both economic development projects and community quality of life projects. Municipal Development District funds come from a 1/2 cent sales tax, levied in both the city limits and the Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) if not otherwise included in an adjacent city or another city's ETJ. Expenditure of the funds requires approval from both the board and the City Council.
Parks & Recreation Board
Monthly Board Meeting Schedule: As needed | City Hall Council Chambers
The Parks Board consist of seven members who must be residents within the Pilot Point Independent School District boundaries. The Board shall consists of one Council Member and six citizens, two of whom live outside the city limits. No member of the Parks and Recreation Board may also be a voting member of a sports/recreation association board. Each sports / recreation association that has a contract with the City of Pilot Point to use the city property, may appoint one ex-officio member to the Parks and Recreation Board.
Planning & Zoning Commission
Monthly Board Meeting Schedule: 1st Thursday of every month, 5:30 pm | City Hall Council Chambers
The Planning and Zoning Commission is a seven-member board appointed by the City Council. The Commission reviews all applications submitted for plat approval, rezoning, and specific use permits and prepares a recommendation for the City Council. They also are tasked with the development of a comprehensive plan for the physical development of the city.
The Planning & Zoning Commission shall consist of at least seven members who shall be appointed by the City Council to staggered terms of two years in accordance with an ordinance adopted by the City Council. The Commission members shall be qualified voters of the City.
